Job Description
Thanks to you, everything runs smoothly – Job description: Track Layer. It's not just your future job that should make a difference. You also want to be physically active at work, because sitting still isn't for you! If you're also a team player and enjoy working outdoors, then you should find out more about the job of a track layer! In this job, you keep the German Rail network in good working order. If your trained eye spots defects in existing tracks, you make sure they are repaired. As a track layer, you're also involved in the construction of new lines. You lay rails, switches, and sleepers, and compensate for differences in elevation along the track. Still not enough for you? No problem, because building level crossings is also part of the job description for this varied and responsible position.
... This is what you can expect during your apprenticeship:
You and your team will be out on construction sites working on our railway lines.
Together, you'll work on tracks and switches, inspect our rails for defects, and replace damaged parts.
You'll renew the layers of stones and gravel beneath the tracks – modern machinery will make your work easier.
To ensure smooth train rides, you'll always make sure to adhere to precise measurements.
After your apprenticeship, you'll be an indispensable part of the team, responsible every day for ensuring that all passengers arrive at their destinations safely and comfortably.
