Farmers (m/f/d) are responsible for producing and selling plant and animal products. Possible areas of production include arable farming, fruit growing, viticulture, hop cultivation, vegetable farming, forestry, grassland management, and cattle, pig, or poultry farming. They operate, monitor, and maintain machinery, equipment, and agricultural vehicles. Depending on the season, they cultivate the soil, select seeds, fertilize, protect, and care for the plants. After the harvest, they store or preserve the produce or market it directly. Feeding, watering, and caring for livestock, as well as cleaning the barns, are all part of the job in humane animal husbandry. Business-related tasks such as bookkeeping, cost calculations, keeping abreast of technological advancements, handling tools and machinery, and carrying out repairs are also part of their responsibilities. In all their work, they comply with environmental and animal protection regulations.
