Job Description
The road maintenance depots of the Freising State Construction Office are responsible for the safety and maintenance of federal and state highways, and in some cases also county roads, in the districts of Dachau, Erding, Freising, Fürstenfeldbruck, and Munich. The range of tasks for road maintenance workers is very broad and varied. Their work focuses on ensuring the navigability of roads, maintaining traffic safety, and the cost-effective maintenance of the road network. A significant component is snow removal and gritting in winter, as well as the maintenance of green spaces in summer. They also implement traffic regulations by erecting traffic signs, designate detours during road construction, and secure accident sites. Driver's licenses (B, C, CE) are paid for during the apprenticeship. Because the apprenticeship is with a public employer, the salary is good and the job is secure. Apprentices at road maintenance depots work on the roads in their region. Career opportunities include becoming a route inspector, crew leader, or head of a road maintenance depot. You will complete the three-year training at the Erding road maintenance depot, at the vocational training center of the Josef-Greising-School Würzburg, and at the inter-company training center in Gerolzhofen.
