Training Content

Create and maintain green spaces
Identify and secure hazardous areas
Select and set up traffic signs and marking materials
traffic and road regulations as well as data protection regulations apply
Maintain road surfaces and joints, carry out surface treatment

Perform tasks related to track maintenance and structural observations, and take measures to ensure traffic safety.

Job Description

The range of tasks for a road maintenance worker is very broad and varied. Their responsibilities focus on ensuring the accessibility of roads, maintaining traffic safety, and the cost-effective upkeep of the road network. A significant component is snow removal and gritting in winter, as well as the maintenance of green spaces in summer. They also implement traffic regulations by erecting traffic signs, designate detours during road construction, and secure accident sites on roads. The driver's license (C, CE) is paid for during the apprenticeship. Since the apprenticeship is with a public employer, the salary is good and the job is secure. The work is performed in shifts because the weather rarely allows for unpredictable schedules. Career opportunities exist for becoming a construction technician.
