As a building materials tester, you take soil samples on site, analyze them in the laboratory, and then draw the right conclusions. But the work doesn't end there, because now you have to explain the results to the client, advise them for or against a particular project, and, if necessary, suggest alternatives. Since construction projects aren't only undertaken by private individuals, municipalities, cities, and companies are also among your clients. The classroom-based training takes place in block courses at the State Vocational School in Selb. There, trainees acquire knowledge in the three areas of geotechnics, concrete technology, and asphalt technology.
