Job Description
Are machines your thing? Are you interested in a varied workplace that combines the workshop, computer work, and measurement lab? Then become a precision mechanic in mechanical engineering! In this profession, you'll manufacture machines and equipment from metal. You'll also maintain and repair them. But that's not all! Your work involves not only considering the big picture and the overall function of machines and equipment, but also their individual components. You'll produce precise machine parts and work with metal using various processes (such as milling, drilling, and turning). Planning work processes, checking compliance with specifications, setting up machines, and training people on how to use them are also part of your responsibilities. Precision mechanics in mechanical engineering work in companies that manufacture machines, tools, precision mechanical products, and measuring instruments.
You'll get to know different departments and understand how important every task is to the overall result – even those of an apprentice.
