As a civil servant in the higher service, you'll be responsible for administration and case processing in public authorities and agencies. You'll also take on leadership roles, such as supervising your staff. Furthermore, you'll monitor compliance with regulations (for example, in the public order office), advise citizens (for example, in the social welfare office), and plan projects (for example, in the federal ministry). Analyzing figures and facts (for example, at the Federal Statistical Office) and making administrative decisions (for example, in the immigration office) are also part of your daily work. As a graduate in Public Administration (FH), you can find employment in the public sector in federal agencies (for example, in federal ministries or the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees), state agencies (for example, in state ministries), and local authorities (e.g., in town halls or the immigration office). You will also be responsible for monitoring compliance with regulations (for example, in the Federal Statistical Office) and advising citizens (for example, in state ministries), and in local authorities (e.g., in town halls or the immigration office). WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT: The three-year dual study program is completed at the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration and Legal Affairs in Bavaria, located in Hof and is divided into four academic study phases (lasting 21 months each); the practical training phase with the City of Starnberg lasts 15 months. Your tasks are very diverse, and after graduation you can be employed as a generalist in a wide variety of departments.
