Job Description

The apprenticeship as a plumbing, heating, and air conditioning (HVAC) technician encompasses the skills of a gas and water installer as well as a heating and ventilation technician. It also includes components of solar and electrical engineering. For HVAC technicians, manual dexterity, technical understanding, spatial reasoning, and an interest in mathematics are essential. The apprenticeship also integrates training as an electrician for specific tasks. Furthermore, building management systems have been newly added to the curriculum. During your apprenticeship, you will specialize in one of the following areas: water technology, air conditioning technology, renewable energy/environmental technology, or heating technology. As a heating technology technician, for example, you would perform an exhaust gas analysis on an oil boiler, while as a heating technology technician, you would perform an exhaust gas analysis on a gas boiler. Career opportunities include becoming a customer service technician, a master craftsman, or a state-certified technician.
