In this profession, you can take on responsibility by learning how to operate control and regulation systems or even manufacture components yourself. Maintaining machines and plants is just as much a part of the job as troubleshooting or retooling them. It's especially exciting when new technological innovations come onto the market and the machines need to be equipped with them. As a machine and plant operator, you have the opportunity to tailor your training to your personal interests. Within the two-year apprenticeship, you can choose from various specializations such as textile technology or finishing, metal and plastics technology, food technology, or print finishing and paper processing. This apprenticeship opens up a wealth of opportunities for you.

Training Content

  • Inspection and maintenance of tools, machines and equipment
  • You will learn about the different manual and machine-based manufacturing techniques and how to use them.
  • Planning of work processes and coordination of these with other areas
  • You will learn how components are manufactured and what needs to be considered during the assembly and disassembly of modules.
  • Selection of tools and materials for the respective machining processes, determination of technology data
  • Operation of control and regulating devices on machines and systems
  • Equipment, conversion and commissioning of production machines
  • Identification and elimination of malfunctions and deviations in the production process
  • Monitoring and ensuring the flow of materials
